Food and Safety Course

Food and safety courses are required for people wanting to work in the food serving, storing, and preparing industry. These businesses must adhere to strict standards and regulations set by the province. FoodSafe, food handling, and food safety courses are designed to teach candidates how to prepare, serve and store food through sanitary, hygienic, and healthy procedures. Candidates will learn to prevent food borne illnesses, chemical poisoning and allergic reactions among staff and customers. Course Content:

Candidates will learn a variety of topics, including how to prepare, serve, display, receive and store foods. Candidates will also learn about good health and proper hygiene. Sanitizing and cleaning procedures are also included in the majority of courses.

Course Length:

The length of a basic food handling, FoodSafe, or food safety course depends on the level of the course and the type of course. Basic food safety courses are approximately 8 hours in length, and advanced courses are as long as 16 hours.

Registration:

Certification:

Candidates that successfully complete the course and receive a minimum grade on the multiple choice test will immediately receive a FoodSafe, food safety or food handling certificate that does not expire. Candidates will receive either a wallet sized certificate or a wall mount (candidates can opt for both for a small additional fee). Certification does not expire, however, candidates are recommended to re-certify every 5 years in some provinces. Candidates may also be required to re-certify based on recommendations and requests from the health department / inspector / authority.

Course Cost:

The cost of a food safety, FoodSafe, or food handling certification course varies depending on the type of course and your location. Course fees are flat fees, and our training providers do not have any hidden costs. Basic food safety courses range in price from 55 to 85 dollars.
